What Is Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN)?
If you're a person, you probably like to be connected to others, to the Internet, and most importantly—to your devices. Nowadays, having one device connecting to the Internet is not enough. We want all of our machines to be able to talk with each other, and we want them to speak wirelessly! That's where WPAN comes in. WPAN is short for wireless personal area network, which uses wireless technologies to transfer data between the user's connected devices. It allows individuals to combine all or most of their devices and access the Internet or a local network using native/supported wireless communication techniques. You're surrounded by all your favorite devices while in a WPAN. WPAN stands for wireless personal area network. It's a way to connect your stuff without wires or cords. You can get this same kind of connectivity from Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Z-wave technology, but WPAN is the best because it's wireless and personal. So how does it work? Let us count the ways. The first thing that makes a WPAN so great is its range. Your devices can be as close to your kitchen table or as far away as your bathroom—it doesn't matter! As long as they're within range, they'll be able to connect through the magic of radio waves. Another thing that makes WPAN so remarkable is how easy it is to set up. Some devices may need to be configured by their manufacturers before connecting with others. Still, once they've been configured once (or twice), their configuration settings will stay the same for future use, so you won't have to keep reconfiguring them every time. Do you connect your laptop to the Internet at a coffee shop but want to use something other than Wi-Fi? There's an easier way! Just create a Bluetooth WPAN with your cell phone and connect it to your laptop. All data packets will be sent to and from the computer via Bluetooth-powered WPAN.
