What Is Multitenancy?
Living in a multitenant building, sometimes referred to as multitenancy, is quite similar to living in an apartment building. Like an apartment building, a multitenant system has several users or customers sharing resources. Imagine living in an apartment building with your kitchen and bathroom but sharing the laundry area, gym, and pool with your neighbors. This is known as multi-tenancy. You have access to some resources that are shared with others, but you have your own personal place to use them. Similarly, each user or client has their own private space within a multitenant system, such as their own database or collection of users; nonetheless, they all share the same underlying infrastructure and resources. It's like a giant party, except everyone has their room, but you all have to share the kitchen, the living room, and the bathroom. The host of the party, who is also the administrator of the system, watches to see that everyone has their place and that no one intrudes on the territory of another guest. However, much like a party, multitenancy may often feel too much to handle all at once. When an excessive number of individuals make use of the same resources at the same time, it can result in performance concerns and possibly bring the system to a crashing point. Due to this, managing multitenancy is essential and ensuring you are manageable with the system with an excessive number of users. Therefore, the next time you use a multitenant system, remember that you are one of many doing so. Even if you share the resources with other people, the area reserved exclusively for you is still yours. In addition, if things get too much for you to handle, the system administrator can assist you and ensure that everything functions normally.
