What Is Layer 8?
Layer 8 is the layer you should be on. The layer of your life matters most and is the one we all want to reach. Layer 8 is where things happen: you connect, meet new people, and get things done. It's also where you can find yourself doing things you never thought possible, and that's why it's so important to take care of yourself on this level because when you're at your best, no matter what takes place in your life or how bad things seem right now, you'll always know that if everything goes wrong today. Nothing works out exactly as planned tomorrow… well… that means there's more room for growth! The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model is like a seven-layer cake. Each layer has its purpose, and together they make the cake delicious. The top layer—the frosting—is the application layer, where you'll find things like your favorite web browser or email client. The next layer is the presentation layer, which is all about how information is presented to you when it arrives from a website or email. Below that is the session layer, which handles connections between applications; then comes the transport layer, which makes moving data around; the network layer manages communications between networks; then you get to the data link layer and finally, the physical layer, which controls how signals are transmitted over cables and other physical media by encoding them into bits and bytes. Layer 8 is also known as "the ghost in the machine," a term from an old philosophy. It refers to problems that can't easily be traced back to a specific technical issue, like a glitchy network card or bad connection. Layer 8 can be used humorously to talk about "ghost in the machine" problems that cannot be Non-technical aspects of network administration (layer 8) are not linked to the OSI model's technical parts. Layer 8 is a loose term generally not used outside the network administrator community except for non-technical aspects of network administration.
