What Is Anti-Static Mat?
Do you know what's the worst? When wearing your favorite high-heeled boots, you accidentally touch a metal object, like a doorknob or something. Suddenly, you feel a spark run through your body, and your hair stands on end. You're shocked! But have no fear. Your antistatic floor mat has got your back! These mats help prevent ESD by dissipating static electricity in the air before it can reach sensitive computer components. They are made with materials that resist the flow of electricity and are available in different sizes to fit any space. To help keep dust out of the air, an antistatic mat can also be used as a regular floor mat outside your office or workstation. You work on projects requiring delicate components such as motherboards, CPUs, expansion cards, and memory devices simultaneously. The Anti-Static Mat is designed to help you withstand the effects of an electrostatic discharge (ESD) on an individual or static-sensitive component. It also assists in preventing explosions and fires when working with flammable material found in certain gases and liquids. An electrostatic discharge is a sudden flow of electricity from one object to another. The flow can be caused by something as simple as touching the object with your finger or by friction between two objects in contact with each other. The antistatic mat helps prevent these electrical discharges from damaging your computer, laptop, or other electronic devices susceptible to ESD damage. When it comes to antistatic mats, we're all about the big picture. They're great for protecting your equipment against electrostatic discharge (ESD). But they can also charge up your work area and keep it charged all day! Imagine: you walk into your office, get ready for the day, and place your laptop on your antistatic mat (we recommend using one under each computer). Then you grab a cup of coffee from the kitchenette and sit at your desk. As you sip away at that delicious brew, you notice something… different about today. You can't put your finger on it, but there's a sparkle in the air. You look around—is it just you? No! It's not just you! Your desk is charged with energy from being placed on an antistatic mat! and that energy has made its way into everything around it—including YOU!
