What Is Mobile Device Management (MDM)?
Mobile device management (MDM) is like your mom but for your phone. It's the only thing that lets you do what you want on your phone and keeps you from doing what you don't want. The MDM mother knows how important it is for you to be able to use your phone wherever, whenever, but she also knows that there are some things, like showing up late for work or sending naked pictures of yourself to strangers, that is just plain unacceptable. So she'll block those things from happening with her iron fist of control over your device and its apps so that she can still trust you when it comes down to it. Mobile device management (MDM) is a fancy name for "keeping your phone under control. "That means ensuring you have access to all the features you want while also providing you can't accidentally download an app that gets your phone infected with malware or spyware. The good news is that MDM can be done through apps on your phone. You don't need to install anything extra. The bad thing is that only some applications are created equal, and some are useless. It's crucial to do your research before downloading anything from the app store! Mobile device management is like a movie. It's been around for a long time. It was the original KidMobile, with its little screen and limited capabilities. Over time, it's become a more sophisticated system that can be used for various purposes. MDM has always been about managing mobile devices, but over time it's become more versatile in working groups of diverse providers, and even software-as-a-service implemented controls. In older systems, users may have had to install a SIM card in a device to access internal systems, whereas newer MDM systems often operate through an over-the-air method.
