What Is Voltage Regulator Module (VRM)?
You've probably heard of VRM. You need to do it if you have a business and use products or services from someone else. It stands for Vendor Risk Management, and it's a part of Supply Chain Management. What does it mean? It's the part of supplier relationship management (SRM) that deals with the strategic direction of third-party products and services. The very goal of VRM is to limit risk exposure and ensure that using third-party products and service providers will not disrupt business or negatively impact business performance. VRM is involved with a thorough plan for identifying and mitigating potential business and legal liabilities regarding third-party products and services, intellectual property rights, and product quality risks. It focuses on delivery costs, service levels, financing arrangements and other factors associated with outsourcing supply chains. It's hard to believe that it's been over a decade since the first virtual reality (VR) headsets were released. In less than a decade, VR has gone from being the stuff of science fiction to a powerful tool millions of people use daily. VRM has become even more critical because of the prevalence of outsourcing to the cloud. Some organizations burden some of their workflows to third parties. They may lose control of those workflows and trust the third party to do their job well. Yet disruptive events like natural disasters, cyber-attacks and data breaches are often out of the organization's control. They are becoming more frequent given all the benefits of cloud computing, such as heightened efficiency and the proven ability to focus on core business objectives. Vendors who lack strong safeguards and controls/restrictions could expose customers to operational, regulatory, fiscal or reputational risk. A contract must outline the business relationships between the organization and the third party. There should be clear guidelines about access and control of sensitive information as per the vendor agreement.
