What Is Data Cleansing?
Data cleansing is scrubbing your data like a dirty dish that needs to be cleaned and put in the cupboard. Data cleansing is the all-important process of ensuring that your data is accurate and correct by reviewing it carefully and ensuring the protocols associated with any particular data storage technology are followed. There are many ways to pursue data cleansing, but most centers on carefully reviewing data sets and the protocols associated with any particular data storage technology. Data cleansing also goes by another name: "data cleaning." This is because when cleaning a dirty dish, you're just cleaning off whatever dirt has gathered on top of it—but there could be more dirt underneath! So if you want to ensure your dish isn't covered in grime, you must ensure that every inch is appropriately scrubbed clean (and free from germs). In this way, "data cleansing" means ensuring that every bit of information on your computer or phone is free from error or other problems before it can leave its source location. Data cleansing is like a data purge but with a twist. A data purge is like a spring cleaning for your computer: you eliminate old, useless files to make room for new ones. A data purge is usually focused on clearing space for new data, whereas a data cleansing method maximizes data accuracy in a system. Data cleansing can involve deleting a system's old, incomplete or duplicated data. Still, it's different from a standard data purge because it does this to free up space and improve accuracy. For example, if someone has entered two records with the same name and address, data cleansing would fix this problem by merging the two records into one accurate record. If you're a database administrator, you know data cleansing is a never-ending battle. You have to ensure your data is correct and up to date, but there will always be errors and inconsistencies. And even if you have the best intentions, mistakes can happen when dealing with so much information. But just like when you've been in a relationship with someone who doesn't know how to communicate their feelings? It would be best if you worked through it. That's what we're here for! We know what it's like to struggle with these issues, so let us help you move forward confidently, knowing that your data is clean, accurate and ready for whatever comes next!
