OpenAI’s Cofounder Finally Breaks Silence To Elon Musk’s Criticism!

If you remember, last month, screenshots of conversation from Bing’s chatbot were all over Twitter flaunting the chatbot refusing to generate a poem (or rather a positive poem) about Donald Trump, saying - "it wasn't programmed to create partisan, biased or political content". On the other hand, the chatbot wrote a rosy poem when it was asked to generate a poem about Joe Biden. Elon Musk's remark fueled this incident as he called the chatbot's denial to generate a poem "a serious concern."
Besides, Musk had also previously criticized the technology, quoting, "the danger of training AI to be woke – in other words, lie – is deadly." Musk, an alleged OpenAI cofounder who has broken the alliance with the company, has more often criticized OpenAI. He has consistently condemned OpenAI for not implementing safeguards that stop it from producing responses that could be offensive or biased.

According to the report, OpenAI finally broke the silence on Elon Musk's criticism of ChatGPT being too "woke." In an interview with The Information, OpenAI cofounder and president Greg Brockman admitted the startup made a mistake. "We made a mistake: The system we implemented did not reflect the values we intended to be in there. And I think we were not fast enough to address that. And so, I think that's a legitimate criticism of us.", Greg stated.
"Our goal is not to have an AI that is biased in any particular direction," Greg told The Information. "We want the default personality of OpenAI to be one that treats all sides equally. Exactly what that means is hard to operationalize, and I think we're not quite there."

It is essential to note that in the month since Microsoft released its AI-powered Bing chatbot, it has set conversation limits on the chatbot. Microsoft has capped users at 50 questions per day and five questions per session. Besides, Brockman's comments have made it quite visible that ChatGPT is on its way to evolving into a better version. Only time will tell if ChatGPT will be able to get rid of the flaws. In the meantime, feel free to pitch your opinions in the comment section below!
