The World Mobile Congress AKA WMC is one of the most coveted technology trade shows and is the world's largest event for the mobile technology industry.

Held annually at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain, WMC’s 2025 edition kicked off on March 3 and is scheduled to run through March 6. The event bears witness to the latest and upcoming mobile devices about to hit the market, as well as a wide range of concepts that may never see the light of day.

Either way, consumers are treated to some amazing advancements in technology that could soon revolutionize the mobile devices industry, courtesy of renowned brands and newcomers.

Samsung, arguably one of the most influential brands in the smartphone world, Samsung unveiled its latest line of smartphones—the Galaxy A series—spanning Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G and Galaxy A26 5G.

The new line is powered by One UI 7 and comes with the integration of Awesome Intelligence, which includes numerous AI-powered features and easy-to-use tools, as well as durability, longevity, robust security, and privacy protections. Its features include Circle To Search with music recognition, a 50MP main lens across all devices with Best Face selection for group photos (exclusive to Galaxy A56 5G), an object eraser, custom filters, and a whole bunch more.

“The new Galaxy A series marks an important step in our mission of AI for all, by opening Galaxy’s incredible mobile AI experiences to even more people around the world,” said TM Roh, President, and Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung also brought its Galaxy S25 series to steal the spotlight, including the super-slim Galaxy S25 Edge, as well as its XR headset Project Moohan, all of which were unveiled at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event. The company also extended its AI-driven experiences to enhance health, home, and everyday life with connected devices and apps such as SmartThings and Samsung Food.

Lenovo revealed numerous laptops. The company rehashed its expanding ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, with a concept ThinkBook Flip laptop that grows from 13.1 inches to an 18.1-inch vertical screen or can be used as a 12.9-inch tablet.

Building using accessories attached through its magnetic Magic Bay connector, Lenovo introduced a bunch of concepts—one which uses an 8-inch vertical screen on the side, one that adds a pair of 13.3-inch screens on either side to form a triple-monitor laptop, one that’s a small, round display for emojis, and one a slim horizontal screen for widgets.

Lenovo’s Motorola announced that its Smart Connect system—a software application enabling seamless integration between Motorola phones and Lenovo laptops or tablets—will soon support a variety of devices. This will allow smartphones from other brands to connect with different laptops, enhancing cross-device functionality. Motorola will also integrate AI into Smart Connect, enabling natural language searches across devices and voice commands to open applications.

Ahead of this, Lenovo introduced an even lighter ThinkPad X13, a concept monitor mixed with a USB hub to plug-in discrete NPUs for AI work, a concept 34-inch curved monitor capable of showing 2D and 3D content without glasses, among others. However, the coup de grace was another concept laptop—Yoga Solar PC—which can be charged using solar power, through a solar panel integrated into the laptop’s lid.

The love for the sun was reflected in Infinix’s concept products too—a phone with an integrated solar panel on the back and a solar charging phone case.

Keeping to the elements, Realme’s 14 Pro and 14 Pro Plus have a temperature-sensitive, color-changing finish that turns into a chameleon in varying temperatures—going from the stock pearlescent white to blue as the barometer drops.

Xiaomi brought its 15 Ultra, a hefty phone with a new 200-megapixel periscope lens among other cameras, that will be available in Europe but not the U.S. It comes with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, 16GB RAM, 1TB of storage, a 6.73-inch LTPO OLED screen, and a large battery. However, the phone doesn’t offer much difference from its predecessor—14 Ultra. The company also revealed a $225 Photography Kit add-on for its 15 Ultra, its SU7 electric vehicle (previously announced), and the new Buds 5 Pro which streams audio over Bluetooth and—in a first-ever—Wi-Fi.

On the other hand, HMD’s new earbuds can charge a phone’s battery, while its Fusion X1 smartphone made in partnership with Xplora aims to tackle the excessive screen time epidemic with a phone that allows parents to remotely enable, disable, or limit access to applications.

Honor revealed plans to invest $10 billion over the next five years on developing AI for its devices—as it looks to move into the PCs, tablets, and wearables space—adding to the announcement of its flagship Honor Magic phones set to receive seven years of Android OS updates and security support. The company also showed off its newest smartwatch, the Honor Watch 5 Ultra.

Tecno showcased numerous innovations, the top of which included its new smartphone CAMON 40 Series that sports an innovative One-Tap FlashSnap dynamic image capture motion for high-quality photographs, AI-powered smart glasses with an innovative AR Display, its light MEGABOOK S14 14-inch laptop, its MEGABOOK K15S and MEGABOOK T14 Air, new wearables including wearables and earbuds, and its super-slim Tecno Spark Slim smartphone.

Tecno followed in the footsteps of Xiaomi by bringing a concept smartphone called TECNO PHANTOM Ultimate 2, which can transform from a 6.43-inch phone to a 10-inch regular-sized tablet.

Ahead of this, BleeqUp brought a new 4-in-1 smart glass for cyclists, while Nothing Phone revealed its 3a Pro which comes with a versatile camera, a unique design, fast charging with a superb battery life, a 3x optical zoom camera, and more.
