What Is Virtual Machine Migration (VM Migration)?

You might want to skip this section if you're not a moving fan. Virtual machine migration is the task of moving a virtual machine from one physical hardware environment to another. It's part of managing hardware virtualization systems and is something providers look at as they offer virtualization services. Virtualization is a hot topic in the tech world, and it's getting hotter. But what exactly is it? Virtualization allows users to run many operating systems on one computer as if they were running separate computers. It's a way of making more efficient use of hardware and can be used for many different purposes. For example, suppose you have a machine with two processors that you want to use for two other tasks (like running an application and using it for gaming). In that case, you could use virtualization to run both applications on the same machine without buying another one. The most common type of virtualization is server-based virtualization, which enables you to run multiple operating systems at once on one device. It's a great way of making more efficient use of hardware resources because it allows you to run more than one operating system at once without buying additional hardware or software licenses! Virtual machine migration moves a virtual machine between physical servers or other hardware pieces. It is done to facilitate maintenance, upgrades, and more. What do you get when you mix a system administrator and a virtual machine? The answer: a live migration. Live migration is moving a virtual machine from one physical server to another without shutting down the client system. It's important to note that live migration isn't just for moving between two physical servers; it can also be used to drive a VM between two other pieces of hardware, like servers or storage arrays.
