What Is User Experience Designer (UX Designer)?

TechDogs Avatar

User experience designers are the unsung heroes of the information systems world. They have to make sure you can use a device or application, and they do it by creating an intuitive and straightforward interface. A user experience designer creates the interface, components, and overall interactions between a user and a computing device or application. UX designers help develop information systems that are simpler and more efficient for human end users. During this process, they might also interview potential users to learn about their goals and pain points or study analytics to discover which features are used most often (and why). Once they have sufficient information, UX designers sketch out various concepts and select the best ones to turn into mock-ups or prototypes. They then share these with a team of stakeholders for feedback and iterate until they have a final design ready for implementation. In designing an application's interface, UX designers must often work with various technologies, including programming languages like JavaScript, front-end frameworks like React, or design tools like Photoshop. UX designers are the people who bring your digital products to life. They make sure that everything works how it's supposed to, but in a way that's not just functional—enjoyable. They have to have an eye for detail and an understanding of how people use technology because they're responsible for ensuring that what you see on your screen is easy to understand and quick to use. A user has a problem with an app or website usually because of something a UX designer did wrong. So what does one do? A UX designer researches and evaluates all aspects of a user's interaction with a computer system, including its visual design, information architecture, usability and accessibility. In short: UX designers make things easy for us humans!
