In contrast, the advent of cloud-delivered and virtualized systems made it possible to move the bulk of an app's processing power to the server, resulting in a "thin app" design. The quantity of data that had to be transferred was cut down because more applications could be run in a virtualized environment and delivered from the cloud. Since cloud-based, virtualized systems are more effective than their non-virtualized counterparts. This trend is likely to continue. There is a need for both heavy and light applications in the modern world, and users have their pick of valuable programs for both work and play.
