What Is Symbian 3?
Symbian 3: The phone that was built to last.If you're looking for a phone that can take anything you throw at it and keep on ticking, look no further than Symbian 3. The third version of the Symbian operating system is built with the best of the best—and it's so easy to use that anyone can pick it up and get going without any training. It's got all the features you need to stay connected, whether you're talking about your business or just keeping in touch with friends. Symbian 3 phones are available from Nokia in various models, including the N8, C6-01, E7-00, and C7-00. The relationship between Symbian and Nokia is going through some rough times. Nokia announced in February 2011 that it would be pursuing a partnership with Microsoft, which would see the former employing Windows 7 on its future smartphones. It surprised many since Nokia had long been committed to the Symbian platform. The future of Symbian is now widely speculated to be uncertain, especially after Nokia's announcement. However, Nokia has stated that it will continue to support Symbian for at least another three years, so there may be hope for those still fans of the platform. Symbian 3 was a big release, including many new features that made the operating system more appealing. 2D and 3D graphics architecture was one such feature, allowing a more advanced user experience. Another prominent feature was user interface improvements, including better multitasking and a faster boot time. Finally, using an HDMI port, you could stream data from your phone to an external device. Along with these new features came the Qt framework, which allowed developers to create applications for the operating system in C++ or QML (a declarative language). Qt is a user interface framework for C++ used to develop applications for mobile phones, PDAs, and desktop computers. It is the preferred toolkit for Symbian applications, using standard C++ combined with a unique code generator known as the meta object compiler and several other macros.
