What Is Stocking?
The Internet has given us so much. It's allowed us to find out what happened in the world while we were busy doing something else. It's given us a place to share our feelings, thoughts, and opinions with people worldwide. It's also given us a Stocking! Stocking is an internet meme involving taking a photo that mimics a stock photo and posting the two online. As with many Internet memes, social media often promotes images. For example, someone might post their Stocking photo on Facebook with a caption like: "I'm so excited for this weekend! " or "What should I wear? " or "Is it too late to go back to school?" It's been a long time since planking. The world has moved on, and we're all focusing on Stocking. If you're unfamiliar with the phenomenon, Stocking is a new take on planking the craze that swept the Internet in 2011. While planking involves lying face-down while other people take photos of you and post them online, Stocking consists of taking pictures of yourself while standing up and pretending to be holding a sock (or stockings) over your head. The original inspiration for this meme came from Austin-based designers Jamie Graham and Dennis Van Huffel. Inspired them after being unable to find a suitable stock photo for a project. Instead of finding an appropriate picture, they decided to make one themselves and thus created their first stocking image. They posted their creation online to showcase their work and provide a place for others to submit their efforts at creating "stocking" photos. Stocking can be pretty funny, but it can also be sad. If you're feeling down about life right now, don't worry! We've got some tips for how you can use Stockings as a way to make yourself feel better!
