What Is Shared Call Appearance (SCA)?
Want to make calls on your desktop and then pick up the same call on your mobile device? With shared call appearance, you can! A shared call appearance (SCA) is a VoIP feature that enables multiple devices to share one line number and lets users combine elements on various devices. Users can have the same line extension on their mobile device, desk phone, or other devices by requesting a telecom company for a shared call appearance. With SCA, users can make and receive calls from any device connected to their network. It's easy to set up: Users need to contact their telecommunications provider and tell them they want SCA. The company will set up the necessary equipment so that all the devices associated with your account will have the same line extension. Then it's just one number for all your calls! Businesses looking to save money by having employees use their cell phones as work phones without paying extra fees for each team member's phone line (or having them carry multiple phones around) will find shared call appearances an excellent option. People who travel frequently will always be aware of an important call while away from home because they will have one phone to keep them connected and benefit from this option. Shared call appearance is a feature that allows an inbound caller to be presented with an extension on the shared call appearance list rather than press "1" or "2" or whatever they would have to do otherwise. This is done so the caller can get off their phone quicker and return to work. The shared call appearance list typically includes extensions commonly used by different organizational departments and other commonly-used numbers (like customer service). In some cases, shared call appearance also allows for a line to be put on hold and answered from another device on the same shared call appearance list, which can be incredibly useful if you're answering a phone call and need your hands free for something else.
