The Qi wireless charging (pronounced 'chee') standard, developed by the Wireless Power Consortium and backed by many tech companies, is finally making its way to smartphones. Since 2011, Qi has been approved for use in public spaces, such as airports, shopping malls and office buildings. Recently there has been increased interest in using Qi wireless charging in homes. This could reduce the number of cables cluttering your living room or desk area with their bulky chargers.
