What Is Media Server?

You know when you're at a concert, and the band is playing their hearts out, and you're like, "Wow, this is amazing", you are having the best time of your life and enjoying the moment, and then the lights go down, and there's a video of them performing on a giant screen behind them? Yeah, that's what I thought. That's what a media server is. It's like a dedicated hardware or software (physical server or application program) that provides on-demand multimedia. They are commonly used with home theater systems to quickly access various media. They are sometimes used in professional capacities, such as concerts or live theater. Media servers are the new black. Why? They're all about sharing, and nobody likes to share as much as the kids and don't worry, it's not just media files. You can also share your opinions, photos, and favorite music with a media server. If you already have a media server, then you know how amazing it feels to take advantage of all that sweet connectivity in the world. But what if you don't have a media server yet? Well. Then, what are you waiting for? If you want to get in on this trend before everyone else does (and trust us: everyone else is going to want one), then now's the time! Media servers are the glue that holds your media empire together. They're responsible for all the hardware and software aspects of sharing, storing and retrieving your media files. Any device with network access and adequate bandwidth for sharing and saving your media server, PC, NAS or any other device with storage capability can be used as a media server. Commercial media servers act as aggregators of information: video, audio, photos and books, and other types of media can all be accessed via a network.
