H.323 is changing the game, making remote collaboration more straightforward. Its always-on availability and superior connection quality allow you to leverage new technologies faster, with greater confidence that your connections will always be solid. Allowing in-person interactions with those who wouldn't otherwise be able to attend allows your company to reach a larger audience and grow faster without additional overhead. H.323 is a set of standards used in telecommunication networks to provide an interactive multimedia communication session via the Internet or other packet-switched networks. It can be used for voice, video and data communications using RTP and RTCP protocols.H.323 enables clients to communicate with each other regardless of manufacturer, operating system, or network. Host-based systems require a host computer to provide the CPU, memory, and disc storage. Terminal-based systems are self-contained and do not require a host computer. Multi-unit systems consist of the central unit that controls other units.H.323 is primarily used for videoconferencing, voice communications, and multimedia communications with data transfer between various devices. It was mainly standardized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). As video conferencing and telepresence are widely used in the corporate environment, the interoperability of different vendor products becomes crucial. H.323 provides the capability for interconnecting various vendor products. It also allows for interoperability with other non-H.323 systems. H.323 was standardized in the early 1990s. Mainly used for videoconferencing between different vendor products. Later, it was accepted as the standard for voice and video communications in the corporate environment. In the mid-2000s, SIP became widely accepted as a corporate video and voice communications standard. However, there are several corporate environments where the usage of H.323 products is still preferred over SIP. If you want your calls to be faster, cheaper and more interactive, it's time to upgrade from H.323.
