What Is Green Patent?
Green patents are all the rage these days, and for a good reason: they're what's next in our fight to improve the world. Green patents are patents on products or designs that provide an environmental benefit. The term green patent represents one use of green, which refers to items or phenomena that accommodate decreased energy consumption or otherwise benefit the environment. The best part is that green patents don't have to be boring! They can be as vibrant and beautiful as they are environmentally friendly, which means you can have it all: your cake and eat it too! In recent years, many countries have developed green patent systems for proprietary ideas with great ecological (and commercial) value. It includes the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, and China. A recent article by The Guardian entitled "Green patents: How to stop your idea being stolen" stated that this trend has been fueled by the increasing popularity of eco-friendly products such as renewable energy sources and environmentally friendly building materials. For example, Ecovative has developed a new way of producing mushrooms from agricultural waste instead of using precious resources like wood or plastic. Similarly, another company called Tencel has developed a way of turning cellulose into fibers for making clothes. However, these innovations will only be able to be used by other companies if they obtain a license from Ecovative or Tencel, respectively - which is why they have decided to protect their ideas by patenting them! The green patent program is a new way of incentivizing innovation in eco-friendly businesses and rewarding those who have come up with new solutions for waste reduction, renewable energy/sustainability or ideas helpful in other ecological areas. They are also a way to ensure that the world's governments remember the collaborative environment of the planet.
