What Is Brogramming?
Bro, when are you doing programming or bro, when are you teaching me programming? Suppose this is the same question that bothers you. Then Brogramming isn't the same, but it's as valuable as your bro, let's find out more. Brogramming is a term that refers to the practice of programming by bros, i.e., male friends, particularly fraternity brothers. This internet meme kicked off in the summer of 2011 with some threads on Quora.com, a question-and-answer website. Brogramming is also linked to Facebook, where the developers are said to have developed a brogramming culture. It's still being determined exactly where or how this term originated; however, it has something to do with the fact that many programmers are male and also tend to be in fraternities or other similar organizations. The word "bro" has been used as slang for "brother" since 1985, so it could be an evolution of that usage. In any case, this expression is ubiquitous among programmers and is used frequently on the internet. The term has been criticized for being sexist and demeaning, but mainly it is used in jest by programmers. According to the Oxford Dictionary, brogramming is a term used to describe the behavior of rowdy or arrogant young men. Brogramming is a form of "programming" often associated with unprofessional behavior, including sexual harassment and other inappropriate workplace conduct. Brogramming is a new type of programming created for and by bros. Programmers are known for their penchant for rage on PHP, anger in the gym, and outrage at the club. To understand this phenomenon, we must look back at its origins. According to the official Facebook page for brogramming - created by Nick Schrock, a Facebook engineer - brogrammers "rage on PHP, rage in the gym and rage at the club." In addition, programmer Miles Lothe is credited for translating Facebook's terms of service into "bro-speak."
